Comfort confined within a can

The perfect example of my most cherished comfort food. Andy Warhol created this print in 1962 (my favorite decade). It was a part of a series utilizing his innovative silkscreening process entitled “32 canvases.”  This work was displayed at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles, and was the first pop art exhibition ever to be held on the west coast.

Campbell’s Tomato Soup and a grilled cheese sandwich are a classic combination of comfort foods that send me back in time, when my love of food was just beginning to develop. Though Campbell’s is a processed food from a can, this is the one time I will make an exception. It truly seduces me and who isn’t seduced by a sensual grilled cheese sandwich and loving bowl of tomato soup? It’s perfectly simple, and perhaps that is where the charm of this meal lies.
